Re-Fashioning Balenciaga: Armani Privé Spring 2015 Couture

Living in a post-modern fashion era, hardly anything we see in fashion collections is truly new. In fashion, almost everything is re-made. That is the case with the dress, featured at left, by designer Giorgio Armani. Created for his Spring 2015 Armani Privé couture collection, the designer makes reference–intentionally or not– to a dress by the couture great Balenciaga, whose similar dress was seen in the October 28, 1966 issue of LIFE magazine.

Re-Fashioning Fernand Siméon: Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 RTW

Looks like Marc Jacobs looked to the bold, black lines of wood engraved fashion plates for his 2014 Spring Ready-to-Wear line. The plate on right is by artist Fernand Siméon for Modes et manières d’aujourd’hui, a deluxe, limited-edition publication printed in 1922.
